Define, Research, Analysis & Planning

In these initial phases, the primary objective was to understand the project scope, objectives, and target audience. Working closely with the Egen.ai team, we clarified the goals of the application and identified key stakeholders' requirements, ensuring alignment with the business needs.

Thorough research was conducted to gain insights into the existing infrastructure challenges faced by public works teams. This involved analyzing proto user personas, studying user behaviors, and identifying potential pain points in current processes. Research findings helped inform subsequent design decisions. During this phase, we analyzed the research data to identify opportunities for improvement and define the project roadmap.

Collaborating with Egen’s internal project teams, we outlined best practice design recommendations and created a comprehensive plan to support the business requirements for the Infrastructure Intelligence solution.

Design

Following the comprehensive understanding gained in the earlier phases, we delved into the design aspect. This involved translating conceptual ideas into tangible visual representations. Using Figma’s FigJam, we created wireframes and functional user flow diagrams. These wireframes served as a skeletal framework, outlining the structure and layout of the application without getting into specific design details. By focusing on functionality and user interaction, we ensured that the design catered to the intended user experience.

Once the wireframes were approved, we moved on to the creation of high-fidelity mockups. High-fidelity mockups incorporate the final design elements such as color schemes, typography, imagery, and iconography. These mockups were developed using Figma, allowing for seamless collaboration and version control. By adhering to a consistent design language and incorporating brand guidelines, we aimed to create a visually cohesive interface that resonated with users and reflected the brand identity of Egen.

Prototyping

With the high-fidelity mockups in place, we transitioned into the prototyping phase. Using Figma, we linked different screens together to simulate user interactions and navigation paths. This allowed stakeholders to experience the application firsthand and provide feedback on usability and functionality.

The prototyping phase was crucial for validating design decisions and identifying any potential usability issues early in the development process. By soliciting feedback from stakeholders and conducting usability testing, we iterated on the design to refine the user experience and ensure that the final product met the needs and expectations of the target audience.

Overall, the design and prototyping phases were instrumental in bringing the vision of the Egen’s CityVision to life. By combining strategic design thinking with iterative prototyping, we were able to create a user-centric interface that not only addressed the functional requirements but also provided a visually engaging and intuitive experience for users.
